Arsenal battle in-form West Ham

Can the hammers end the Gunners’ hope for European football next season?

This weekend sees 2 of London’s team face off against each other in the race for European football next season. The hammers have been in splendid form this season in the EPL, currently sitting in 5th position in the table and 7 points ahead of the Gunners, who are currently in 10th position heading into today’s showpiece.

The Gunners, who are fresh from qualification into the quarter-finals of the Europa League after seeing off Olympiacos 3-2 on aggregate in mid-week. They are one of the clear favorites to lift the trophy which would also provide a route back into the Champions League next season but they wouldn’t want to put all their hopes in one place. Last weekend, they were victorious in the North London derby against bitter rivals, Tottenham back at the Emirates stadium, and today, they would be hoping to get all 3 points at the London Stadium against West Ham United this Sunday afternoon.

West Ham vs Arsenal 2

on whether he's surprised by the improvements West Ham have made...

Not really. I think they have a really strong squad and they have a great manager and coaching staff. They started the season with some doubts but I know what David is capable of doing. He gets the group together, they’re working really hard for each other, they’ve recruited really well and you can start to see the things that David has done. Obviously they have a little bit more time during the week to prepare football matches and training, and I think they’ve been in great form and they’re a really dangerous team.

Jesse Lingard is in line to make a return to the starting Line up after sitting out last weekend’s 1-0 loss to Manchester United due to ineligibility to face his parent club. Pablo Fornals and Andrey Yarmolenko are ruled out due to injury. Angelo Ogbonna remains sidelined due to an ankle injury while Arthur Musuaku and Ryan Fredericks are a doubt to feature.

Fabianski, Diop, Dawson, Cresswell, Coufal, Rice, Soucek, Johnson, Bowen, Lingard, Antonio

The Gunners will be going into this game with a fully fit squad. Bukayo Saka missed the mid-week game against Olympiacos due to a thigh injury but he was seen training with the team on Friday. Hopefully, he passes his fitness test to feature in this clash.

Leno, Cedric, Luiz, Gabriel, Tierney, Xhaka, Partey, Odegaard, Aubameyang, Saka, Smith Rowe.

Both teams are currently vying for a place in Europe next season. The hammers recently lost to Manchester United last weekend while the Gunners beat Tottenham on the same day. We hope to see an end-to-end game here.
