Hi, my name is Chumsy and I’ll be predicting every English Premier League game this season.

In my 20th year as an Arsenal fan, it’s an honour to host the PREDICTION CORNER. Every Gameweek, I shall go head to head with one or two members of the AFO community and we will predict all the games for that Gameweek.

Welcome to Gameweek 2, Tucker and Sarge are my guests.

Tucker has been an Arsenal fan for 21 years. “My love for football started with my dad. He always loved football and Arsenal was his favourite club. I watched football with him and was also drawn to this great club because of how they made football appear easy. I also kept wondering why a coach named after a club (Arsene and Arsenal).”

Tucker has had many great moments at Arsenal but his most memorable was when Kanu came off the bench to score a hat trick against Chelsea. His worst moment, on the other hand, was the loss to Barcelona in the 2006 Champions League final.

And like Tucker, Sarge’s worst Arsenal moment was the UCL loss at the hands of Barca. He said, “I almost cried to be honest, but I can’t stop loving the tradition, history and style of play of this club, it’s the reason I’ve been a loyalist for 22 years; even when Kanu left, Wenger made my love grow.” His best moment is Arsenal’s unbeaten season.

Tucker and Sarge both agree that Everton, Leeds and Arsenal will win their games, while the latter feels Chelsea will get the better of Champions Liverpool.

We are going for the 3 Points!!!

CHUMSY’S PREDICTIONS FOR WEEK 2

A correct result (picking a win, draw or defeat) is worth 10 points. The exact score earns 30 points.

CHUMSY’S FORECAST

Saturday 19 September 2020

Everton vs West Bromwich Albion, 12.30 pm

Everton played a very good game against Tottenham and I expect this to be a straightforward game for them
Chumsy: 4-0

Tucker: 2-0

Sarge: 3-0

Leeds United vs Fulham, 3 pm

The Leeds game against Liverpool was arguably game of week 1. Fulham on the other hand, didn’t offer much against Arsenal. This should also be an easy game for Leeds against a team they beat in the Championship not long ago.
Chumsy: 3-0

Tucker: 3-1

Sarge: 3-1

Manchester United vs Crystal Palace, 5.30 pm

This would be United’s first game this season following an extended break after playing in the semifinals of the Europa league. They face a Palace side still buzzing after gaining 3 points against the Saints.
Chumsy: 1-1

Tucker: 1-1

Sarge: 2-0

Arsenal vs West Ham United, 8 pm

Another 8 pm kick-off to the Hammers who started well against Newcastle then looked lost at some point. I must say if they play that way all season, they may find themselves battling to avoid the drop. Arsenal have Aubameyang who just renewed his contract and the new Secretary of State who was involved in all three goals against Fulham and hit the post with a well-taken free-kick. I see the Auba-Will combination yielding many goals this season.
Chumsy: 3-0

Tucker: 2-0

Sarge: 3-0

Sunday 20 September 2020

Southampton vs Tottenham, 12noon

Tottenham looked out of sorts against Everton; the players didn’t look like they wanted to play. But they secured an away win midweek in Europa qualifiers. On the other hand, Southampton showed some fighting spirit against Palace
Chumsy: 1-1

Tucker: 2-1

Sarge: 1-1

Newcastle United vs Brighton & Hove Albion, 2 pm

I don’t think it would be right to judge Brighton against a very expensive Chelsea side. I also won’t judge Newcastle on their performance in East London having pointed out that West Ham played badly.
Chumsy: 0-0

Tucker: 1-1

Sarge: 2-1

Chelsea vs Liverpool, 4.30pm

When Expensive meets Class, we know what’s about to happen. Although the new Chelsea players are still trying to adapt, Liverpool’s defence hasn’t been reliable enough since the remaining few games of last season.
Chumsy: 3-2

Tucker: 2-3

Sarge: 2-1

Leicester vs Burnley, 7pm

Leicester’s beautiful style of play hasn’t disappeared and Burnley played some interesting football last season but I’ll stick with the home side.
Chumsy: 2-1

Tucker: 1-1

Sarge: 1-0

Monday 21 September 2020

Aston Villa vs Sheffield United, 6 pm

Another Monday evening game for Sheffield United. I don’t see either team doing enough to get the 3 points but we know it could turn out differently when the match starts.
Chumsy: 0-0

Tucker: 2-1

Sarge: 0-0

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Manchester City, 8.15 pm

The Citizens would want to put away their European disappointment coming into this game. But I think Wolves would do enough to stop England’s second-best team last season
Chumsy: 1-1

Tucker: 1-2

Sarge: 2-2

That is it Fans! Let’s see who takes the week. COYG!

At the end of GW2, Chumsy and Sarge had a tie as both correctly predicted 4 results to finish with 40 points.

While none of the three predicted a correct score, Tucker finished the week on top after correctly predicting 6 results to get 60 points.

Thanks again to Tucker and Sarge for their contribution. And congratulations to the former.

Score Standings after week 2
1 Osei, Salas, Tucker 60
2 Chumsy (Average score) 50
3 Sarge 40
