Promising debuts for Gabriel and Willian
FULL TIME RESULT:
Fulham FC 0 – 3 Arsenal FC – (Lacazette (8), Gabriel Magalhães (49), Aubameyang (57)
What a brilliant start to the season by Arsenal, who began their campaign with a fantastic result after today’s EPL early kickoff at Craven cottage. Mikel Arteta fielded a strong starting Lineup, giving a full debut to new signings Willian and Gabriel Magalhães, the latter who featured in a three-man defence alongside Rob Holding and Kieran Tierney. With a midfield consisting of Granit Xhaka, Mohammed Elneny, Maitland-Niles and Bellerin, it can be said that Arteta was cautious about not exposing his defensive line. It didn’t take long for Alex Lacazette to open the scoring in the 8th minute, blasting into an empty net after some scrambling by the Fulham goalkeeper. Arsenal controlled the game from then onwards, passing the ball around freely, giving fans the memories of playing the old Arsenal way. They held on firm to go into the break leading with a goal up.
They started the second half as they finished off the first, dictating the tempo of the game, leading to a corner kick in the 49th. Willian’s corner was met by his fellow Brazilian, Gabriel, who rose highest to nod home what will be his first goal for Arsenal on his debut. The Gunners weren’t finished there as their Skipper, Aubameyang, who just can’t stop scoring at the moment, found the net in 57th minute with a cool finish into the top right corner of the Fulham post, Willian again providing him with the assist. Fulham threatened the Arsenal defence in the closing stages of the game but the Gunners held on to see out the game in what will be their first win of the season and their first clean sheet of the season in Mikel Arteta’s first full season in charge of the Gunners.
We hope to see more of this beautiful performance by Arsenal in the games to come this season and fans can only feel positive right now knowing fully well that the club is finally heading in the right direction. Possibly there might be some new faces coming into the squad before the transfer window closes and also some players might be sold but with a performance like this, we can be sure that the present crop of players can be able to push for a top-four finish by the end of the season.
