Arsenal welcomes a familiar face to the Emirates: Arsenal vs. Aston Villa

It’s another weekend of Premier League football for Arsenal as they take on Aston Villa. Arsenal are currently in high spirits as they defeated Manchester United last weekend at Old Trafford and also won at home to Norwegian side, Molde in the Europa League on Thursday night, a game where they came from behind to win 4-1 and remain top of the group.

Aston Villa in their own part have produced a very entertaining football this season, beating Premier League champions Liverpool 7-2 and also winning 1-0 away to Leicester. This goes a long way to show the talents at their disposal.

Arsenal vs Aston Villa: Match Preview

Arsenal has David Luiz back in the team after a lovely display in the Europa League. Reiss Nelson picked up a knock before the game on Thursday night so it remains to be seen if he would be fit in time for this game. Gabriel Martinelli, Pablo Mari, and Calum Chambers remain unavailable. Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Thomas Partey, Hector Bellerin, Alexandre Lacazette, Elneny, Gabriel, Tierney, and Rob Holding all look set to return to the starting Line up after being rested in mid-week.

Possible Line-up (3-4-3); Leno, Gabriel, Holding, Tierney, Elneny, Partey, Saka, Bellerin, Aubameyang, Lacazette, Willian.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez will come up against his old side for the first time since making a summer transfer to join Aston Villa. Villa would be without Bertrand Traore after the Striker picked up a hamstring last weekend in the home loss to Southampton. This should give room for Trezeguet to make the starting Line up.

Possible Line-up (4-3-3); Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett, McGinn, Luiz, Trezeguet, Barkley, Grealish, Watkins.

on where Aston Villa have improved from last season...

I think they have a better understanding with the players. They’ve worked with the manager for longer. I think they recruited really well. They got Emi, they got a striker, they got Ross and Douglas Luiz who is a player who is starting to show us he is capable. He is a player that I know really well from my time and City and I think the time is benefiting them together. You can see what they are trying to do and they look really strong.

~ Mikel Arteta

Kick-off Time: 8:15 pm (W.A.T)

*Aston Villa will be aiming to make it back to back wins against Arsenal for the first time since 1994.

*Arsenal presently have the best defensive record in the league, letting in just 7 goals so far this season but they face a very resilient villa side that put 7 goals past Liverpool.

This game promises to be very entertaining and well stretched but we expect Arsenal to come out victorious in this one.
