After a hard-fought victory on Saturday night, Arsenal next match is a huge visit to the Kings Power Stadium for the 3rd Round of the Carabao Cup
Just like Arsenal, Leicester is in good form following a three straight win in all competition so far in the 2020/2021 season.
Remember that this is not an EPL game hence, the game might be a battle of second teams. Arsenal might have little choice as per rotation with the next 5 fixtures include trips to Anfield, Manchester City, and Old Trafford while hosting Leicester City and Sheffield United, it is almost certain that we see the more of the reserve players in action as opposed to the full first eleven. So it will not be a surprise to see Arsenal’s newest acquisition Alex Runarsson start on Wednesday.
Leicester, on the other hand, could afford a decent team mixed with first-team players and reserve team, their next five fixtures are considerably better than the Gunners as they face just one of the last season top 6 in a visit to the blue side of Manchester. Arsenal should be careful of Leicester’s two full-backs, Justin and Castagne who have contributed immensely to the Leicester success story so far this season with Castagne recording an assist and Justin on the scoresheet against Burnley.
Saka with the quiver
Tierney who picked up an injury during the warm-up to the game against West ham might still be out, although Mikel Arteta claims it was just a scare and nothing more, with the heavy fixtures in sight, Tierney might not feature at all today.
On the bright side of things for Arsenal, this might be a chance for Ozil who is the longest standing Arsenal player following the departure of Martinez, to once again show himself as a dominant and reliable creative player. Ozil who hasn’t played for Arsenal since the season restarted last season has been criticized for his conduct, dubbed a lazy player among other criticisms.
Do you know...
This is just the third time we’ve faced Leicester in the league cup – the foxes won in 1974/75, while we won over two legs in 1991/92.
